

Beloved husband and best friend of Paulette for 35 years. Loving father of Michael (Ronni) Assemany, Nicole (Gregory) White, Bryan (Amanda) Kendrick, Christopher (Natalie) Assemany, Kathlyn (Derrick Redman) Kendrick, Christel Kendrick and Sarah Kendrick. Proud grandfather of Christian White, Alexandra White, Lilyanne Nash, Logan Assemany, Maybel Assemany, Drake Assemany, Neveah Corbin, Travis Assemany, Hayden Assemany, Isaac Kendrick, Julian Redman, Gabriel Redman, Grace Kendrick, Silas Kendrick and Olive Kendrick. Brother and Brother-in-law of Kay (John) DePauw, Vickie (Eric) Eis, Darrin (Mona) Hunt, Paul Levi and the late Kathy Levi. He was an uncle, great uncle and great-great uncle to many including James Bradford and Amara Bradford. He is survived by many nieces and nephews along with many other extended family members.
Dr. Kendrick graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1969. He then received his Bachelor's of Science from Central Michigan University in 1973 and later his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Illinois in 1979. While working towards his Doctorates in Optometry, he worked as a pharmaceutical representative and as a Chicago City Bus Driver. In pursuing his career as an optometrist he owned and operated Huron Valley Vision Care in Milford from 1980 through 1998. He practiced for an extended time at Distinctive Eyewear in St. Clair Shores and Detroit Optometric Center in Trenton. He completed his career at America's Best in both Lincoln Park and Novi from 2009 until he was no longer able to serve his community.
He was a member of the Lions Club and the President of Oakland County Society of Optometrists from 1984 to 1986. Among his many hobbies, he was an avid golfer, played the piano and drums, and in his younger years a member of the band "House of the Lords". His greatest joy however was spending time with his large and loving extended family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Friday from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm.
