Gary William Chase passed away peacefully at home after a long struggle with vascular dementia related to a massive stroke on October, 1, 2017 in White Lake, Michigan at the age of 62. Gary is survived by his adoring wife, Doralie Jane Chase. His beloved children... Mr. Christopher Lee (Mrs. Kelley Savannah) Chase, Heather Lee Chase and Amanda Lee Chase. His beautiful yet playfully mischievous grandchildren... Collin Lee Chase, Dakota Lee Chase, Avanell
Elizabeth Chase, Alexandria Mae Chase, Owen Andrew Mayberry, Macy Lane Koke, Emilia Tutabella Koke, and Maxton Dane Koke. His brother, Mr. Steven Michael (Mrs. Colleen) Chase. He is preceded in death by his mother Avanell Arbutus Chase, and father William Raymond Chase.
Gary was born on August 25th, 1955 to unknown parents and was lovingly adopted by William & Avanell Chase. He grew up in rural Northern Michigan where his father taught him to be an avid hunter and skilled craftsman. Later on in life he found himself as a body shop manager at Dreisbach Cadillac dealership where he met his wife, Doralie. After living as a blended family for some time, they were wed on December 22, 1979. Where he revealed that while he loved Doralie he married her because he wanted Christopher and Heather as his own two children. 10 years later the Chase family welcomed baby Amanda into their lives and set about teaching them hard work, honesty, family tradition, and HUNTING!
His children remember him as a strong, caring, and stoic individual, who encouraged them to pursue their goals and never give up. He was accomplished at auto restoration and often built and hand crafted wooden furnishings, structures, and decorations. He was a charming and compassionate individual who
loved family, who was passionate about all forms of hunting, especially for deer. He was an active and dedicated member of the NRA and the Multi-Lakes Conservation Association. As a Chase family tradition we never say goodbye because it is too final, in lieu of such final words we recite what Grandpa Bill always said to us every time we would part ways. “Bye for now.”
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road.
