I knew John since I was in High School. When my wife Diane and I went into business in Milford John called for some support for his Toy's for Tot's program. He said that I could not just donate, he wanted help on the day of the event. I did help, and was it ever worthwhile. After a couple of years we changed locations (40 miles) however John tracked me down and I donated again. To let you know John Joannides was a giant while working with students. He WAS genuinely interested. I am sorry I missed his service. RIP Friend

My condolences to Mr. Joannides' family at this difficult and sad time.  Many years ago I participated in his "Seminar in the Performing Arts" class and I have great memories of him and how kind and funny he was.  In looking through the gallery, I think my dad (Jim Horan) was a part of one of his golf foursomes.

My Heartfelt sympathy for the family.  I only knew "Greek" as a fraternity brother during our years at Morehead State.  John also attended several reunions and it was always great to see and talk with him. I will miss him

My condolences to the family.  I worked with John for a number of years at Lakeland, and I was fortunate to assist him with the Toys-4-Tots party for 8 years.  It truly is one of the finest events in the HVS District, and we have John to thank.  He was a warm-hearted man with a compassionate soul.  My life is better because of my interactions with John.

So sorry for your loss. I started teaching with John in 1969 at Milford High School. I enjoyed my time with him going to Meadowbrook Theater, Lions games, racquetball and of course, golf. RIP John.

John was a gentle yet strong soul whose zest for life and spirit filled the room. His nurturing and caring made such a difference in the lives of others, whether they were family, friends, students, or those in need.

My sincere condolences to Kathy, Jessica, and family. John and I were friends for over forty years from our earliest days at Huron Valley. We had a running joke in which he referred to me as Fanny Faculty. I will miss our occasional phone conversations and laughs.

John and I met at Morehead State University more than 50 years ago. He instantly became a friend to me and my family. "John the Greek" was like my brother, an Uncle to my children and loved by all of the Morehead family. My wife Judy has cherished his friendship for all these years. we will miss you "Johnny". John had a heart of marshmallow where all kids were involved, especially kids with special needs.  He has left a legacy of caring and giving to others which is unrivaled at Lakeland.  John may not be physically present, but he lives on in his great works for kids.

I am very sad to hear of John's passing. He was a cornerstone at Lakeland. Through his actions we were all encouraged to give to others the most precious of gifts...our time and attention. Very glad to know that his legacy continues.

He was incredible. I worked in his office one hour each day my senior year and I learned so much.

He was an incredible man with such an amazingly wonderful way of reaching young people. Even a teenaged girl filled with far too much angst and rebellion.

John not only got me involved (sometimes kicking and screaming) with Toys for Tots, he helped me start my college coursework in my junior year of HS. It took 30+ years, but I finished my Ph.D. and remembered his encouragement and support so many years ago. John had a true vocation and huge impact on the hearts and minds of his students.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of John. He was a gentle man with a good heart. I remember all the times that Emily was part of Toys for Tots and he made her feel so special. Emily and I would shoot baskets in front of your house and he would made sure to come out to say hello and talk and I enjoyed our conversations. Once again we are very sorry. So sad to hear of Johns passing, his door was always open for students as well as staff, he always had a kind word at the time it was needed the most. My students always looked forward to singing at the Toys for Tots party in the Kiva.

RIP Mr. Joannides. May all the great memories help your family and loved ones through the difficult days ahead.

John was a wonderful, kind man with a great sense of humor. I was fortunate to have worked with him at Lakeland. Everyone loved John. My condolences to his family.

Remembering all the fun times at LHS and with the 'ROMEO'S' having lunch these past years.
John was 'one of a kind' in the guidance counseling of many, many students in successful careers.
His dedication to 'Toys for Tots' was an organization John cherished/donating countless hours, putting smiles of happiness on thousands of children's faces.
John truly was a generous/thoughtful man and will be remembered by us all.

Jessica, Kathy, and family I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. It seems like just yesterday he and I were sitting down at Dave's Coney talking about the first time we would ever do Toys for Tots together. His legacy lives on in that program here at Lakeland and his dedication to students will live on through the program. We really appreciate you sending the donations to the program.
