Joyce Shirley Nettle

Joyce Shirley Nettle (83), one of five sisters, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, “Bud” (Alfred); her 6 children “Buzz” (Denise) Nettle III, Linda (Tim) Sullivan, Randy (Sheila) Nettle, Kathy Anderson, Greg Nettle, and Sue (Don) Connors; her sixteen grandchildren; her twenty great-grandchildren and her 2 sisters, Bonnie Thomas and Debbie Sandlin.

Joyce was born, April 4, 1939, in Royal Oak, the daughter of Edgar & Betty (Brown) Collins. She married her childhood sweetheart in 1955 and celebrated 65 years of marriage. She raised six children and 30 foster babies, always keeping busy, a loving homemaker. She enjoyed painting, reading, watching her shows, shopping with her many friends, throwing picnics each summer, and spending time with her growing family. Her first love was her husband, Bud with whom she shared her love of family, golf, travel and friends. Every who met her found a friend. Joyce was always ready to help whenever possible. She enjoyed retirement in Florida for 20 years.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Joanne and Elizabeth.

Her celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 11th at the Highland Chapel of Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Rd., Highland, MI 48356. Joyce’s family will receive friends at 10am with the service to follow at 11am.
