Mary Lynn McDonald

Mary Lynn McDonald, age 66, of Hartland, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family, on July 24, 2014. She fought lung cancer for over a year. Mary was born on December 15, 1947 in Detroit MI to Cleon and Marie Overmyer. She is a 1965 graduate of Lutheran High East and a devoted christian belonging to Faith Lutheran Church in Highland. Her career began at the age of 17, as a secretary at GM. In 1988, she began working for AAA and retired after 25 years. She anticipated spending her retirement years traveling with her husband and spending more time on Lake Huron in Oscoda. Mary always put her family first and enjoyed entertaining and opened her home to all. She is survived by her loving husband of forty years, John McDonald. Beloved children Shawn (Jack) Hermansen and Amy (Mark) Purdy. Dear grandchildren Devon and Danielle Hermansen. Visitation will be Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 3pm to 8pm at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Rd., Highland. Funeral Service begins at 11am with Visitation at 10am on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, 3501 E. Highland Rd., Highland.
