Mitch was 1 year and a couple social levels above me in high school. He remembered my name, made a point of greeting me in the hallways and included me in weekend activities. All of this was a terrific boost to my self confidence. I wish we could all be a bit more like Mitch.

I was lucky enough to meet Mitch way back in 2006 at a work function. I liked him as a person immediately as that was who he was (is). While we lived hundreds of miles apart and both moved onto other employers he was someone I needed to stay in contact with just cause! After his diagnosis was confirmed we talked about his future and next steps. This is what really set Mitch apart - when we talked options to extend his life he was until the end more concerned about how his family would fare without him vs how he might exhaust all of his assets to get (his words) a couple more days. He only wanted to make sure he was there to support the kids through school and ensure family was taken care of after he was gone. He loved them ( & I believe still does) with everything he had. While I’m not happy he’s gone I am thrilled that I was blessed to have known him and on some level considered by him as a friend. In the end you can’t say much more than that about a man!

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. He was an inspirational young man. He had a heart of gold. Trying to help others.Heaven gained another angel. You will be dearly missed. Your legacy lives on in the lives you touched and changed and will continue to change other people's lives by them. A miracle of compassion and love you shown still shines

May your grief and sorrow be eased by the knowledge that Mitch was truly an inspiration to all that met him.  His love and selflessness for his family, friends and those in need was a special gift.  There are so many wonderful memories to comfort you during this difficult time.  His light shines bright and his love is present all around us!

In 2018, you allowed me to share your tremendous story with my students through our "Thoughtful Thursday" project. I remember when Mitch came and brought the kids bracelets and it meant so much to them. He was such an amazing person and I am so very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you during this time.
