

Norma Marie Boyer, age 93, of Highland, died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Caretel Inn of Brighton. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia Labatsky, James (Connie) Boyer, and Mary (Mark Demorest) VanSteelandt; eight grandchildren: Jerry Labatsky, Sheri Labatsky, Teresa (David) Henrikson, Jason (Betty) Boyer, Amy (Aaron Langlois) Polinski, Kendel (Chad) Printz, Kailey Vansteelandt, and Kyle Vansteelandt; five great-grandchildren: Hannah Boyer, Rodrigo Juarez, Abigail Boyer, Isabell Langlois, and Kenzie Printz; two siblings: Ruth Billings and Robert Zakrison; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Norma also had two great-grandchildren on the way.
Norma was born June 5, 1926, in Phillips, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Olaf and Elsie (Carlson) Zakrison. She and Carl Boyer, II were married on March 1, 1947. Norma was a homemaker and a wonderful stay-at-home mom for most of her adult life, but she did work for Chrysler during World War II, and also worked as a telephone operator for a brief period of time. In her free time, Norma enjoyed going shopping, going out to eat with her family and friends, and playing bingo. She also loved to travel, and had fond memories of her trips to Europe. Most of all, Norma loved to spend time with her family; especially her grandchildren! She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Elsie; her husband of forty-one years, Carl Boyer, II; her son, Carl Boyer, III; her son-in-law Kenneth Labatsky; and her three brothers: Fred, James, and Roy Zakrison.
Norma’s family will be present to receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of service at the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home Highland Chapel, 3295 East Highland Road, Highland, Michigan 48356. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Claus will officiate with burial to follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
