Nonie was born October 28, 1932, in Canton, Ohio to the late Nicola and Katherine(Scavelli) Rex. She grew up in Magnolia, Ohio and graduated with the class of 1950 from Magnolia High School. Nonie was a talented artist and pursued this passion by attending Canton Art School for 2 years before she then went on to work for the Hoover Company as a product inspector for the US Navy. While in her twenties, Nonie loved to travel and had a particular affinity for visiting New York City with her sisters and friends. She also enjoyed fashion, baseball, and helping out at her family’s Italian restaurant. She met the love of her life, Chester “Chet” McGlynchey, when he spotted her in a wide-brimmed floral hat at a friend's wedding, and the two married on February 13, 1960, in Magnolia, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Union Lake, Michigan, where they lived for 35 years, raising their three children.
Nonie was very active as a volunteer for the reading program at the public elementary school, as well as a Brownie leader, and was always involved in her kids’ school activities. In 1978, she was hired at Lord & Taylor in Novi, MI, where she had a 30-year career working for Estee Lauder as a counter manager, taking great pride in the friendships she built with her clients.
In 1998, Nonie and her husband, Chet, built their dream retirement home where they spent the remainder of their days enjoying life on the lake. She was never one to sit down, and could always be found tending to her lawn, flowers, and her treasured koi water garden. She loved boating, fishing, reading, and crocheting. But most of all, she cherished spending time with her beloved family and friends.
Nonie is survived by her children, Michael (Denise) McGlynchey, Melanie (Michael) LaHaie; Grandchildren, Alyssa, Ryan, Brandan, and Meghan. Siblings, Angelina Narduzzi, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
