

Phillip was a US Army Vietnam Veteran who proudly served our country from 1969 through 1975. During his time of service he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal a Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and was an Expert at both M-14 and M-16 Rifle. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
He is the beloved husband of the late Diane. Loving father of Naomi (the late Anthony) Mixon, Janet Carter, Tina Ward, Jeanine (the late Don) Spann, Phillip (Christine) Ward, Jr., Tammy Ward, Jennifer (Louis) Everett, Latasha (Joe) Clark, James (Hanna) Ward and his honorary son, Glenn (Sheila) Carter. Very special grandfather of Wanjura Carter and Kemonie Carter. He is also survived by many more treasured grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Brother of Robert (Kathleen) Harris and Paul (LoDonna) Harris. He is also survived by his dear two dogs, Bullet and Princess. Sadly, is preceded in death by his parents, James Ward and Bernice Harris and his two brothers, Jessie Bass and Johnny Harris, Jr.
Among his many interests he enjoyed fishing, traveling, baseball and football. He was an avid Detroit Lions and University of Michigan fan. Along with enjoying a Reese's cup from time to time, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family who he enjoyed very much. He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 113-123 Wessen Street in Pontiac. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30am until the time of the service at 11:00. Following the funeral, Mr. Ward will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 2:00pm in Holly, Michigan.
