Vidal Rivera, age 78, of Highland, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at his home. Left to cherish his memory are his loving children: Angela Rivera, Linda Rivera, Kent, Vidalia Suniga, Vidal “Chacho” Rivera, II, Killian (Julie) Patton-Rivera, Ricardo (Gina) Rivera, Adelina Rivera, Stephen (Meghan) Rivera, Charles Larrinaga, and Jennifer Larrinaga; his ten grandchildren: Anita, Vicente, Rebecca, José, Santana, Neamiah, Anastasia, Jude, Lilah, and Rosario; his many great-grandchildren; and his two siblings: Robert Rivera, and Olga Martinez.
Vidal was born March 10, 1946, in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the son of Mr. & Mrs. José and Armenda (Sanchez) Rivera. Vidal proudly served his country in the United States Navy for many years. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, Vidal devoted his professional life to a career as a sales manager; most notably spending many years as an employee with Home Depot. In his free time, Vidal could always be found enjoying his morning cup of coffee, or spending time with his family and friends. He was grateful to have had the opportunity throughout the years to live in many different states in order to grow the relationships with his grandchildren that Vidal truly treasured. Although he was far from the perfect father, he was loved by all. He will be greatly missed.
Vidal was preceded in death by his parents, José and Armenda; his son-in-law, Joe Suniga; his two brothers, José and Arnold Losoya; and his sister, Guadalupe Valencia.
In accordance with Vidal’s wishes, cremation will take place. No public services have been scheduled.
