Bernice was born in Hamilton, MI October 2, 1928 to John and Sena (Rankins) Kalmink. She was a longtime member of Maplewood Reformed Church.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Vern Ekema in 2018.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Gene Ekema, Terry (Nancy) Ekema, and Paul (Stephanie) Ekema; grandchildren, Chris, Ashley (Cody), Michael, Arthur (Lexi), Miranda, Grace, Maddie, and Katie;
brother-in-law Donald (Kathy) Ekema; great granddaughter Madison; many extended family and friends.
A visitation gathering to celebrate Bernice's life will be Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 2-4:00pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland. A private burial will take place in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
