

loving wife of 69 years, was at his side.
Donald was born in 1933 on the north side of Holland to Harry and Helene (Michielson) Schutt. He grew up there, on the family-operated farm, with his four brothers and two sisters. Donald graduated from Holland High School in 1951. After high school he trained and worked locally in a Tool and Die Maker’s apprenticeship before being drafted into military service. In 1953, the same year he and Marlyn M. Driscoll were married. In active duty, he served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division until 1955. After his military service Don worked as a machine designer and engineer, eventually becoming the Chief Engineer at Excello in Holland, Mich. In 1973 he started his own business designing and building automated machinery used in the recycling industry, and, also building and re-building die-cast machinery. He owned and operated this business for approximately 35 years.
Donald was preceded in death by his brothers Edwin (and his wife Ila) Schutt and Jim Schutt, his sister Nelva (and her husband Gerritt) VanKampen, and sisters-in-law Bea Schutt, Deloris Schutt, and Ann Schutt.
He is survived by his wife Marlyn, and three sons; Micheal and Lavonda (Carden) Schutt (and their children Kindra (Mark) Davidson, Joshua (Justina) Schutt, and Erin (Charles) Isaac-Samual); Randy and Ann (Price) Schutt (and children Marie (Richard) Schutt, and Neal (Susan) Schutt); and Richard and Jane (Arendshorst) Schutt (and children Robert (Alyssa) Schutt, William(Sarah) Schutt, and James Schutt). He was especially proud of all eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In retirement, Donald and Marlyn spent time in Arizona and Florida. They were active and enjoyed several hobbies, especially motorcycling and traveling in their RV. As a younger man, Don also enjoyed flying as a private pilot.
Visitation will be at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, Holland, MI., on Dec. 10 from 4:00-5:30 pm.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
