Gordon Jay Barendse

Gordon was born in Holland and a life-long resident of the area. He was a member of Noordeloos Christian Reformed Church. He worked for Hart and Cooley for 48 years prior to retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his sister Isla Costello-Garvelink, and a brother Jerry Barendse.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie of 60 years of Zeeland; children, Steven (Donna) Barendse of Zeeland, Julie (Richard) Nesting of Everett, Washington, Michael (Julie) Barendse of Zeeland, Timothy (Krista) Barendse of Saugatuck; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; Sisters, Sheryl (Dale) Myaard, Sharla (Jack) Van Slooten; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norma Barendse, Alan Fuder, Vern (Kathy) Fuder, Edwin (Joan) Fuder; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Noordeloos Christian Reformed Church, 4055 112th Ave., Holland. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6-8:00pm, at Noordeloos Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holland Rescue Mission.
