

Harold was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a navigator in Viet Nam, He also belonged to the American Legion. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in packaging engineering and worked in that field for a number of years. He moved to the Holland area 15 years ago, and worked as a boat engine mechanic at Drummond Marine, which complimented his love for the water and fishing. In his later years, Harold enjoyed woodworking was a talented artist. He enjoyed his woodworking immensely and taught classes in bowl making at Evergreen Commons as well. But most of all he loved all the friendships he made there and he went there each day he could, as all of those friends had a special place in Harold’s heart. He will be dearly missed. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Harold H. Ruthig Sr.

Memorial Services will be Tuesday, October 27 at Evergreen Commons, 480 State Street, Holland at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the Evergreen Commons Wood Shop.
