

Joyce Jean Bennett passed away on July 17, 2017 at the age of 88. Joyce was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 30, 1928, the daughter of Alfred and Ninabelle (Leseney) Bement. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1946. Joyce married the love of her life, Leo "Bud" Bennett on June 28, 1947.
Her first job was at J.W. Knapp's Department store in Lansing as an accountant.
Joyce also worked later at Kessler Company as a supervisor and following that for the Van Buren Intermediate School District as a counselor. Joyce's husband was ordained into the United Methodist Ministry and together they served churches in Cadillac, Alden, Kewadin Indian Mission, Cedar Springs, Wayland, Hinchman, Lawrence and Jackson--all in Michigan. Upon retirement they made their home in Holland, Michigan and enjoyed traveling in their motor home, they wintered in Arizona.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother Paul (Florence) Bement;
daughter-in-Iaw Michelle Bennett.
Surviving are sons Terry (Linda) Bennett of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dennis "DK"
Bennett of Bluffton, South Carolina; granddaughters Morgaine (Harry ) Bell of
Hardwick, Vermont, Amy (Gerald) Sebolt of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Krista
(Charles) Savinsky of Wayland, Michigan. Great grandchildren Kassandra Bell,
Zachary and Nathan Savinsky.
Joyce was a devoted mother and friend. With the true meaning of life in her heart
she spread love and compassion to everyone with whom she came in contact.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 57 West 10th Street, Holland, Michigan 49423.
Interment in The Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Michigan
