Lori Jane Marroquin, born on February 13, 1954, in Holland, Michigan, passed away on January 25, 2026, at the age of 71. She was the beloved wife of Jose Marroquin and a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lori was the daughter of the late Alma (Don) Schaffsma and John Weenum. She graduated from Holland High in 1972. In 1971, she met Jose, and they married on October 21, 1972. Together, they raised six children. Lori was also a loving grandmother to Mariah Castillo, Marissa (Cole) Kaiser, Maximus Ramirez, Uriah Marroquin, and Xander Marroquin, and a great-grandmother to Mateo Kaiser.
Family was at the heart of Lori's life. She was known for her family-first approach and the fond memories of Sunday dinners with the entire family. Lori was sassy and opinionated; traits that she used to express her love for those around her.
In her early years, Lori was passionate about horses and enjoyed racing them. Her home was always open to those in need, and she was remembered for her love of crocheting, with many people still cherishing the blankets and other items she created. Her expansive garden full of fruits and vegetables was a testament to her love for nature.
Lori is survived by her husband Jose Marroquin, her daughters Angela (Reny) Hernandez and Rachel Hull, her sons Addam, Justin, and Jordan Marroquin, her grandchildren, her great-grandchild, her sister Adelle VanDaalen, her sister Nancy Bronson, her brother Larry Weenum, and many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her son Shawn Marroquin, her brother-in-law Terry Marroquin, and her brother-in-law Jay VanDaalen.
A Visitation service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, located at 994 Paw Paw Drive, Holland, Michigan, on January 30, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with funeral service to follow.
Lori will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
