In Loving Memory of Mary Ellen Sheil (1953–2025)

A lifelong rheumatoid arthritis sufferer, MaryEllen passed at home into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and a new life without pain on Nov 5, 2025. MaryEllen was 72 years old and was born on 10/10/1953 in Chicago IL. Before moving to her current city of Holland, MI, she lived in Bartlett and Schaumburg, IL.

She graduated from Schaumburg HS in 1972.

Preceded in death by parents Steve and Crecenthia (Litgen) Istok, 2 sisters and an ex-husband.

Survived by her son Antoine J. Sheil and his daughter Emma Rose, sister Cynthia M Henkel (Tom), brother Michael J Istok (Lisa), Godson and nephew Mark Henkel (Nikki) and son Zeke Henkel, niece Erika Ridgeway (Jason), and children Evan and Elizabeth Ridgeway, and many friends.

Her life was a testament to grace, resilience, and unwavering faith. Her joy radiated through the simple pleasures she cherished—games that sparked laughter, puzzles that challenged the mind, and crafts that transformed ordinary materials into heartfelt treasures. We will all miss her unique perspective on life, her quick wit, and the love she shared with her family and many friends. She loved to marvel at the colors God painted her world with, especially in flowers. One of her favorite times of the year was Tulip Time, with Dutch dancing, street cleaning, parades and the tulips that line the streets in Holland.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Holland Senior Center and a recipient of Meals on Wheels.
