

Richard was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan. During his 20's, he was in the Navel Reserves, and later relocated in Holland, Michigan. Over the years, Richard was employed by Hart and Cooley, TLC Group, and later founded Coffee Cart with his wife Gwendolyn. After retiring, he drove bus for West Ottawa Public Schools. He also served our community as a member of the Holland Twp. Board for 12 years.
Richard had many loves that included not only his wife and family, but sailing, hunting, wood working, and travel.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Gwendolyn Cartier. Five children, Mark (Kim) Cartier of Tennessee, Chis Cartier of Florida, Susan Bocks of Holland, Eric Bocks of Arizona, and Dr. Martin (Alissa) Bocks of Ohio. R 7 grand children, and 7 great grand children. Preceding him in death was his brother Robert (Ginnie) Cartier.
Richard passed on May 9 2017 at Resthaven Care Center following a long battle with Alzheimer.
A memorial service will be 4:00pm Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland.
Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00pm until the time of the service at Lakeshore Memorial.
Burial will be in North Holland Cemetery.
