Sandee was born in Milwaukee, WI August 14, 1934 to Gary and Lilliam (Johnson) Kamper. Sandra was a career military person. She served our country in the United States Air Force for over 27 years, retiring in 1992 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Sandee was a Missionary nurse in Turkey for two years before joining the Air Force. While in the Air Force she was stationed all over the world (including Thailand, Turkey, and England) and also several places in the US. This is where she developed her love of travel. Sandee served as a flight nurse during the Vietnam War and took care of the injured soldiers that were flown back to the US. She was a member of the Society of Airforce Nurses. She met her husband Alan of almost 30 years on the Concorde flying to Russia for New Years Eve. Her family was a very important part of her life. She would travel to the states for a visit at least twice a year and would travel to see them all where ever they were, always bringing books and the good chocolate from England. She was known by her American family as GAS (Great Aunt Sandee). Sandee will be remembered for “bringing Thanksgiving to England” and would host most of the village of St Bees and their family with many favorite family recipes. She loved to entertain! And was known to her English family as the “Seaside Grandma” and loved taking her grandchildren to the beach near there home and for ice cream at the local diner. Her faith was very important to her. She was a faithful and active member of the St Bees Priory Church in the village of St. Bees where she lived. Sandee will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
