Sandy and I became friends in high school and worked at the same store, Pic'N Save in Gardena, CA.   She had the coolest job as cashier and taught me how to do it (under the table).  I was the flower girl, sorting out the artificial flower aisle. Later, when I tried out for a cashier position, my boss thought I was so fast and smart...this was because of Sandy!  Sandy welcomed me into her family, who all grew to be life long friends as well.  After Sandy moved to Michigan, we had meet ups in California, Las Vegas and finally, Holland Michigan, a few years ago.  There was always distance, but thankfully we always kept in touch.
My heart and sympathies go out to Robert, Cindy and Rob, their families and all who loved her.
I do believe Sandy is now with her Mom, Dad, Wanda and others.

When I think of Sandy, I remember her wicked sense of humor and how she loved to laugh!  She was kind and generous and nothing was more important to her than spending time with family (especially at CHRISTMAS).   Sandy was warm, welcoming, and loyal.  What a wonder legacy of love she leaves behind.

Although saddened that she is gone,  I'm certain heaven greeted her with out stretched arms and a celebration began.

Sending my condolences to Cindy, Rob, and all of Sandy's much-loved family.   Everyone who worked with Sandy at Hope College knew how much her family meant to her.

Sandy was a dear . . . always so warm and helpful . . . and a vital part of enabling our place called Hope. I so appreciated her.

I remember flying into Grand Rapids to meet Sandy We had such a good time Laughing,  Shoveling snow, eating looking for souveneirs and shopping!!  Uncle Bob was supposed to be our chauffeur....I don't think he really minded though!! I hope that your brother and sister  as well as the many friends , your nieces and nephews and your cousins d especially Robert remember that you were and still are Very special.  I wish we could have one more day together.  I will Always miss you.  You will always be in my prayers.God Bless you!!

So sorry to learn of Sandy’s passing.

Sandy was a wonderful loyal employee always willing to  do whatever necessary  to meet a deadline.   Her friendly smile  and ability to adapt to change are fond memories for me.  

My senior year at Hope (2006-07) I was an intern in Alumni and Parent Relations. Sandy was the constant warm welcome when I arrived for the day. She was so thoughtful and considerate of where I was in life.  I will always think fondly of Sandy's smile and care for students because I know I was one of many over her years of working at Hope.

Sandy was always such a joy to work with.  She was warm and inviting with a great laugh, and we will miss her.

 You were my sister,my best friend,my confidant,my adviser, and the glue that kept things together. How lucky was I to have you my life. You were always thinking of me and the rest of the family before yourself. Jason and Chad were “ your boys” and what you’ve given them will last them a lifetime. Our family has been truly blessed by you. I will miss you more than words can say. Love you forever ( To the moon and back) ” your loving sister Cindy.

Sandy was not only my oldest sister, she also acted as a second Mom. And not only to me but everyone in our family. Obviously there are way too many memories to post and I am blessed to possess them all in my heart. But what I will remember most of my sister was her love of family and friends. Saying she will be missed is an understatement, but I take comfort knowing she is walking with the Lord and shopping with Mom and Dad.

Memories of Sandy include lots of laughs!  Office Christmas decorations were up the morning after Thanksgiving and Christmas carols played everyday and all day long.  She'd spend an entire day making Chex Mix to give away.  Every year she would make more and more!  And I think that was just about the extent of her cooking.  Sandy liked her routine.  Things got done on time.  She took pride in her work; and she'd often measure her work week productivity by the number of toner cartridges and envelopes! Sandy loved her family- and also her extended family of student workers.  Tasma family, you each and all have our deepest sympathy.

When I started working at Hope College in 1996, Sandy was already a seasoned veteran.  She was a rock and a staple to so many here at Hope, and she didn’t hesitate to take me under her wing.

Sandy was an esteemed colleague. I’m not aware of any other person who had a standing “reserved” table at noon every day in the Kletz or an “unofficial” naming of an office suite (appropriately named the “Tasma Wing” complete with a plaque on the suite door).

Sandy loved life.  She especially loved Christmas.  And, Christmas music.  A lot.  It was guaranteed that on the Monday after Thanksgiving there would be Christmas music coming from Sandy’s office – from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm – 40 hours a week!  Some of us moaned and groaned about it but always in fun.

There were no surprises with Sandy.  She was transparent.  Good vs. Bad. Right vs. Wrong. You always knew where you stood with Sandy.  And, if she wasn’t always admired for that quality (likely from those who fell in the “bad” or “wrong” category), she was most certainly respected for her convictions.

Most of all, you couldn’t visit Sandy in her office and not notice that family was the most important thing in her life.  The pictures.  The framed photos.  Sandy loved her family.  She once shared with me that the biggest regret in her life was not having a child of her own. Sandy would’ve been a great mom.  That void, however, was filled many times over with an abundance of children born into her family to dote upon and love.

Although gone from this earth, Sandy is now at peace in the loving arms of her Lord and reunited with “mom and dad.”

I had the pleasure to work with Sandy for 15 years at Hope.  I loved her sense of humor and caring nature. She made me laugh daily and always gave great advice.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family she so loved.

I only met Sandy a few times thru Sue Young, my step-mom.  Sandy was very pleasant and seemed like a very warm and caring person.  I know Sue and Sandy were very close and that relationship meant the world to Sue.  I wish all the Tasma family members, especially Sue, my heartfelt condolences.  Hold those loving memories of your time with Sandy close to your heart during these difficult times.  I am praying for God's grace and comfort over all of you.  In God's Love, Kathy Koops

I worked with Sandy at Hope College. Everybody loved her. She had a great sense of humor, albeit sometimes sarcastic. I retired before she left for health reasons, but she was one of the people I missed the most after I left. I am shocked by the news and wish peace for her family.
