

The time has come for us to Salute Our Beloved Solomon Marcus Hawkins, or as so many called him, “Smoke,” Smoke Man, Sol, Unc, or just Dad! Born in Chicago, Illinois to Solomon William Hawkins and Zelma Lean Hawkins.
Solomon was an Army Veteran, and a resident of the Holland area. Solomon briefly attended Maple Avenue Ministries, on the west side of Holland. In his later days he was a patient of Life Circles, a group invested in his every day health, and betterment. Solomon grew up in the city of Chicago, and also spent time in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Wynne, Arkansas.
His hobbies included: Dancing, Cooking, Movies, Drawing, Grilling, spending time with family and friends, or just Hanging out with the fellows. Oftentimes, you can find him listening to the smooth sounds of Rhythm and Blues. Solomon absolutely loved Music.
Solomon leaves to cherish one daughter – Tamika Hawkins, his beloved Lorena Ruth, four grandchildren – Tamika Johnson, Colby Johnson, Brandae’ Reynolds, Avante’ Johnson, five great grandchildren – Jamarcus Johnson Cashmere Woods, Cai’Son Woods, Sa’mir Johnson, four godchildren - Sirr Keels, Darius Hawkins, Sophia Mishoe, & Leslie-Lorena Wesson, three stepchildren - Shtameka Carson, Corrie Ruth, Renia Ruth, nine siblings – June Hawkins, Sarah (Maurice) Evans, Randy (Valerie) Hawkins, Andre Hawkins, Timothy (Lynn) Hawkins, Zelma (Donald) Hawkins-Cobb, Sylvia (Richard) Hawkins, two Sister in Laws - Navylnn, and Mary Hawkins, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, and Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends, Neighbors, and fellow Veterans.
Solomon was preceded in death by his parents: Solomon & Zelma Hawkins, two brothers – Isaac Hawkins & Gilbert Hawkins, and one great- granddaughter S’nyla Reynolds.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Solomon will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland, MI 49424.
