Where do you start with a man like ole river . I spent many a nights at rivers with my grandson kam. He loved the ole river man he was always patient with kam. And taught him to shoot rifles and how to sharpen a knife to catching and releasing fish in the pond. River was always fun tobe around . I have many handmade leather works from river that he made I will always treasure them we bought and sold and traded many a gun together. We lost a good one !!!! I’ll miss you my old friend! RIP. Nicholas Witt and family aka Detroit.

I am sorry to hear about Wayne’s passing. As a young college student working for Arnett’s Plumbing in the summers, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with Wayne on a daily basis. The skills, applications, and creative problem solving I learned from Wayne and Jerry, were amazing. I still use many of those lessons today in my professional life. The “Legendary” status used to describe The Riverman is well deserved. He was a skilled plumber plumber, an accomplished musician, and just an outstanding individual to all he crossed paths with. My condolences to Marlene and the family.

So sorry to hear about Wayne's passing.  

We played in the "Impacts" at the roller rink back in the 60's.  Wayne knew all the current hits & I drummed & sang with Carl L on backup guitar.  He was always a friendly and caring guy.

“Wayne the Riverman has been a lifelong friend and leaves a lasting memory in my life. He was great friends with my father, Frank Wilson, he played at my 21st birthday party. He plumbed my first house on Hoffman Street in Saugatuck and he wrote epic ballads about our Best Chance Charter Fishing business on Lake Michigan that are such meaningful parts of our history. We are sorry to hear of his loss today and want his family to know how deeply sorry we are for your loss.”

Wayne, the Riverman, was a classmate of mine at Holland Christian.  After graduating, our paths didn't cross again for probably 35 years until I needed some plumbing done and didn't know who to call.  Someone suggested the Riverman down by Saugatuck and gave me his number.  Wayne was willing to come up to Holland to take a look and that was the beginning of a great friendship and sharing of stories!!  There were a couple of other remodels that followed, but the best times were when the two of us would meet up at Family Fare by accident and spend 15-20 minutes just talking.  It always made my day!!  In fact, it was just a month or two ago when I asked him if he still had his tools.  He told me he gave them all away and was done.  I told him he might have to just come to my house, sit on a chair, and tell me what to do then!  He just gave me that special Riverman laugh and smile!!  I'm going to miss him as I know you guys will also.  He was truly one of a kind!!

My Grandparents just adored Wayne. I heard dozens of amazing stories throughout the years about what an amazing neighbor, friend and father he was. He will truly be missed. Your family is in my thoughts.
