Adrian Kahlil Young, a beloved member of the community, passed away on January 27, 2024, at the age of 41 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born on June 24, 1982, in Kingston, Jamaica, Adrian was known for his loving nature, sense of humor, and unwavering passion.
Adrian had a strong educational background, having obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He dedicated his career to teaching, working as an esteemed Math Teacher at Miramar High School. Adrian's commitment to his students and his exceptional teaching skills were recognized in 2015 when he received a Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Frederica Wilson. In 2017, he also received the Highly Effective Teacher Recognition.
Outside of his professional life, Adrian had a variety of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed playing tennis, exploring new destinations through travel, and immersing himself in the beauty of music. Adrian's passion extended beyond his personal pursuits, as he also devoted his time to mentoring youth, making a positive impact on their lives.
Adrian will be deeply missed by his loved ones. He is survived by his mother, Damsel Thompson, his adoptive mother, Velma McKen, his aunt Jennifer Foster, his aunt Carol Harris, and his uncle Damonie Brown.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled to honor Adrian's memory. The service will take place on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Funeral Home located at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida, 33024. Following the service, interment will be held at Hollywood Memorial Gardens North Cemetery. In honor of Adrian's vibrant spirit, the family kindly requests that all attendees wear cheerful colors, as black attire is discouraged.
