Born on July 11, 1938, in the vibrant community of St. Catherine, Jamaica, Alfred embarked on a journey that would span 87 fruitful years. On July 21, 2025, he peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family in Hollywood, Florida.
Alfred's life was one of dedication, both to his family and his work. He shared a loving marriage with his cherished spouse, of 61 years, Annette Sutherland, and together they raised a family that was his pride and joy. His children, Arlene Babwah (Harry), Sandra Dawn Sutherland, Anthony Sutherland (Mellisa), Ian Sutherland (Victoria), and Petrona Monique Alexander, brought him immeasurable happiness, as did his grandchildren, Lorelle (Scott), Jordan (Hunter), Kayla, Josiah, Jacob, Evangeline, Jaxon, and Annabelle. He was a doting great-grandfather to Ianthe (Thea), Solenne (Lenni), and Carter. Alfred's sisters, Emma McCalla and Florence Bryan, cousin Samuel Watts (Aevon) along with nieces; Yvonnette Julien (Linroy), Nodien (Ian), Angella (Evens), nephew Aldred (Jodi) along with a host of other nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, will fondly remember his guiding presence.
Alfred's professional life was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit. He thrived in sales and business management, where his keen intellect and innate ability to connect with people led him to a successful career. His colleagues respected him for his integrity and his commitment to excellence.
Alfred was a man of deep faith and a profound belief in the power of prayer. His prayers brought strength and comfort to those around him. Alfred’s unwavering trust in God guided every aspect of his life, offering hope and encouragement to friends and family alike. His legacy of faith and compassion will continue to uplift all who were blessed to know him, reminding us of the enduring power of love, kindness, and prayer.
Alfred's interests were as diverse as his talents. An avid gardener, he found peace and contentment in the soil and blooms of his garden, a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit. His love for politics kept him engaged with the world around him, always ready to offer a wise and well-considered perspective. An enthusiast of dominoes and word games, he was a formidable opponent who played with a joyful heart and an ever-present sense of humor.

A funeral service will be held at Living Word Open Bible Church, located at 8900 Stirling Rd, Cooper City, FL 33024, United States. The service is scheduled for August 7, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
Interment will follow at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens North, located at 3001 N 72nd Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024, United States. The interment is scheduled for August 7, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
