Alice G Sanchez

For most of those 100 plus years, she led a charmed life. She was loved by the rest of the family, adored by her husband, Manny, and treasured as a friendly neighbor throughout her many years living on Washington Street's Beverly Hills Condominiums. She is remembered as the beautiful bride on her wedding day, as the aunt who always had a kind word for you and a pretty sharp sense of humor, as the "closet Catholic" for 30 years in the Baptist organization for which she worked, as the friendly clerk in her husband's Broadway leather store and as the dedicated, loving sister who took the bus every day for years to visit her ailing sister, Mae, in a nursing home. And, finally, she was charmed again when the Lord brought Shermin, her caregiver, and Judy, her neighbor, into her life in old age to make her last years comfortable and pleasant.

The Lord never blessed her with children but He did bless her with many nieces and nephews, all of whom she treasured. Her niece, Maureen Cordaro, was her constant correspondent as well as the one who saw to paying her bills and seeing to her needs as she grew older.

Alice Gorman Sanchez was born in New York City on August 11th, 1912, lived for many years in Jackson Heights, Queens, N.Y. . She was the daughter of Bridget (Shaw) Gorman and Daniel Gorman and the sister of Mae O'Keefe, Dennis, Daniel and John. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Manuel Sanchez, to whom she was married for over fifty years.

Her wake will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, 2013 with hours for viewing from 3pm to 5pm and from 7pm to 9pm at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Fl. 33024 and the Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated for her on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 10 am at Nativity Catholic Church, 5220 Johnson Street, Hollywood. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens.
