Anne Marie Sommer (Mitzi) passed away from natural causes in her Fort Lauderdale home on Monday December 14th. She was 79 years old. Mitzi led a full and exciting life. She was born in Belisce, Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia), where she and her brother, Stefan, escaped a Russian concentration camp when she was 4 years old. After World War II, she and her family moved to Germany where they lived for 3 years prior to emigrating to the United States. She was one of the original Playboy bunnies working as a waitress at the Playboy clubs in Chicago, Detroit, and New York. Ultimately, she moved to South Florida with her two children, George and Debbie, to provide a better life for her children. After her kids graduated high school and left the nest, Mitzi pursued a career change and found her calling, a passion for being an aesthetician. She eventually made a name for herself, developing a loyal clientele in the process, ultimately leading her to start her own business, Mitzi's Skin Care, providing skin care services to her devoted patrons, many of whom became her dearest friends. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful a human being Mitzi was. She will be dearly missed by friends and family alike. In addition to her two children, Debbie Anne Sommer and George Sommer, Mitzi is survived by her grandchildren, Megan Viñas and Tristan Sommer, son-in-law Frank Viñas, daughter-in-law Maria Barbara Sommer, niece Vicki Jo Weinpert Kurz, grandnieces Amanda Jo Kissel, Adrianna Jo Stefica Kissel, Brittany Weinpert, Alexa Butkke, and grandnephew Nicholas Joshua William Kissel. In lieu of sending flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Feeding America, https://www.feedingamerica.org/.
