

Barbara was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica to Clifford Thompson (CT) and Edna Hay Strudwick on April 4, 1937. She attended Merle Grove Preparatory School, Swallowfield Elementary School, and St. Hugh’s High School for Girls in Jamaica. She is a graduate of Durham College of Commerce, Kingston, Jamaica and Manhattan School of Business in New York. She worked as a Legal Secretary for Lake Nunes & Scholefield, Attorneys-at-Law in Kingston, Jamaica; then as a paralegal with Ables, Clarke & Osterberg, Celebrity Attorneys in Manhattan, for several years.
Upon taking up residence in Florida, she was latterly employed with Dade County Housing & Urban Development (HUD) until she took early retirement due to illness.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, sister Petrona (Peppy) Harriott and brothers, Orlando and Wavelyn (Tim) Strudwick.
Barbara is survived by her sisters, Norma (Gemmy) Richardson, and Isabell Martin; nieces, Nicola and Jan-Therese, and relatives who loved her dearly. Also, Sherill Kerr and Michelle Comrie, along with other loving and devoted friends.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church, 2801 North University Drive, Pembroke Pines on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Visitation 9 -10 am followed by the Service of Thanksgiving at 10 am.
The family thanks Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home, Taft Street, Hollywood for handling the final arrangements.
Barbara’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Yehuda Deutsch, Dr. Marc Greenstein, all the wonderful nurses and staff at MOFFITT, Memorial Hospital West, and Vitas Hospice Care.
