Chris Allen

The City of Hollywood and Hollywood Fire Rescue will join the Allen family to honor and remember Chris, a 23-year veteran of the Hollywood Fire Rescue Department. Chris died unexpectedly on June 6th in Daytona, Florida.  

Chris was 58 years old and had been with the Hollywood Fire Department since May 1999. In his time with the department, Chris started his career as a firefighter and rode Rescue for 10 years.  In 2009, he was promoted to Driver Engineer. In this role, Chris was assigned as one of the drivers for the department’s high-water rescue vehicle. Chris proudly served with the Florida Army National Guard. He was a Sgt E5, Stock Control Supervisor while serving during Operation Desert Storm from 1990- 1991. Chris was recognized as a Sharpshooter with the M-16 rifle, and Marksman with hand grenades. He was decorated with the Army Achievement Medal/Overseas Service Ribbon/NCO Professional Development Ribbon and was honored with the Golden Eagle Award for his service in the Armed Forces in the Persian Gulf Conflict. Chris also served as a dispatcher with the Margate Police Department and worked a short time for the Plantation Fire Department.

Chris was a husband and father of two, and he played an integral role in the department and our community. He was known for his sense of humor, his love of cooking and dedication to the job at hand and residents of Hollywood. Colleagues remember Chris as the guy everyone liked, and the one who loved to cook for everyone. He will be greatly missed.  

The family has requested the Memorial Viewing and Service remain private. They thank the members of the public for their heartfelt sentiments and ask for privacy at this time. 

The Family would like in lieu of flowers memorial donations be given to Hollywood Firefighters Benevolent Association for the HFBA Chris Allen Scholarship.
