Captain Clare Virginia Mitchell, age 88 of Miami Florida, passed away on Dec 7th. A viewing will be held at Fred Hunter Funeral Home 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida, 33024 on Thursday December 12th between 5:30 pm. and 8:30 pm. A graveside service will be held at Hollywood Memorial Gardens North, 3001 North 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, Florida 33024.Clare was born in and grew up Newport Rhode Island on September 3rd 1931. There she gained a fondness for the water. She made her way south and settled in Florida where she eventually began a career as owner and captain of a charter fishing boat. She was one of the original few female captains in Miami area. Clare was married to Marvin M Mitchell until his passing. Clare is survived by 3 sons, five grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, Marvin Mitchell III.
