

Claudette was born in Kingston, Jamaica to Clephane and Blanche on January 13, 1936. She attended Alpha Elementary School and Alpha Academy in Kingston. She married Earl Parkin in Kingston, Jamaica. She graduated from New York City Community College with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and completed a Masters degree in Nursing Education from New York’s Hunter College. She worked as a registered nurse at Lennox Hill Hospital in Manhattan where she lovingly attended to her patients including notables, Harry Belafonte and Elizabeth Taylor. After moving to Florida in 1982, she joined the Memorial Hospital System and worked as a nurse educator for thirty-two years. She was involved in Jamaica Nurses Association as the president and the Alpha Academy Alumni.
Claudette is preceded in death by her son, Ian Parkin, her brother, Orell Desnoes, and her parents, Clephane and Blanche.
Claudette is survived by Tyrone (brother) and Carol (sister-in-law), Aileen Yvonne and Joyce (sisters), Geniese (daughter-in-law), Jordan and Ashley (grandchildren), many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, adopted family, and long-lasting friends.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, 9904 NW 77th Street, Tamarac, FL 33321. Arrangements provided by Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home, Hollywood, FL.
