

Barlow, Daniel sailed away with the tide on June 11, 2011. He fought a very courageous battle with cancer, the only battle he ever lost. Born in Orlando, FL. January 10, 1933. In 1951, he moved to San Diego, CA and enlisted with the US Navy, serving our country from 1951-1959 and left as a Korean War Veteran, He was a UDT Diver and Pipe Fitter, aka Seals. He was proud of his Navy career. Coming out of the service he continued with a commercial diving career. In the 1980s he retired from diving and became a Captain in the US Merchant Marines. In 1990, he retired to travel the world with his wife Joan. They enjoyed traveling in all 50 states and 75 countries on all seven continents. In 2002, he was awarded the Guinness World Record for the Largest Private Collection of Menus which he donated to the Broward Historical Commission. He is survived by wife, Joan Barlow and her two children, OK Sloan (Melissa), Cheryl Sloan; grand-children, Albert, Amanda, Alicia, Stephanie and great granddaughter Addison; former wife Kathryn Barlow and their two children, Diane Dodich (David) and Janet Barlow, grand-children, Joseph, Cameron, Shane and great grand son Joseph III; siblings Ralph Wilson Barlow (Alice), Jodi McLean and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11am July 7, 2011 at Fred Hunters Ft. Lauderdale Chapel 718 S. Federal Highway. Condolences may be shared at www.fredhunters.com.
