D’Juan Bautista Dinzey, “Johnny”, age 58, passed away on October 30, 2023. D’Juan was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic on September 3, 1965, and was one of two children, of Juan B. Dinzey and Diana T. Cedeno.
D’Juan came to the United States at the age of six. He was then introduced to his sister who was four years younger. To their surprise, neither had any idea they had a sibling, but the family was now complete. Tasked to accompany his sister to her dance classes at the age of nine, D’Juan would intently watch the dance classes himself. This stirred up his interest in the performing arts and catapulted him into the world of dance and theater.
He graduated from Science High School in Newark, New Jersey and attended The Juilliard School in New York City. D’Juan went on to study at the Garden State Ballet and Gallman’s Newark Dance Theater (GNDT) along with his sister. He would also become a member of GNDT, Nanette Bearden Contemporary Dance Theater, Premiere Dance Theatre, dancer for the C&C Music Factory, and cast member for the Musicals “Fame” and “Making It”. He had the wonderful opportunity to use his talents to choreograph for various musical artists and teach dance to young students who shared his same passion for dance. He passed on from this world as an accomplished dancer, choreographer, entertainer and teacher.
D’Juan is predeceased by his father, Juan B. Dinzey. He is survived by his mother Diana, sister Diana, nephew Giovann, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida 33024 on Saturday 11/11/2023, 4:00pm.
The family of D’Juan wishes to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the PBSO Chaplains, family members and friends for your prayers, assistance and support.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.fredhunters.com for the Dinzey family.
