Don was born September 17, 1948 to the late Denver and Esther Pruitt and has been a lifelong resident of Hollywood, Florida. Don was married to the late Paulette Pruitt for 23 years and spent the later years of his life with companion, Liz McKinley who passed in August.
Loved ones that will miss Don until they meet again are daughters and son in-laws Debbie and Ted Linne of Cooper City, Florida and Donna and Wes Hyde of Hazel Green, Alabama; his four grandchildren, Steven Drovie, Kelly Drovie, Victoria Hyde, Wesley Hyde and great granddaughter, Sadie Clausnitzer and his sister, Beatrice Pruitt.
Don was a carpenter, member of the Broward County Carpenters Union and a self-employed handyman for over 25 years. He served friends and family sharing his many skills and talents. He taught his daughters that no work was worth doing if you did not have time to do it right. Don enjoyed family BBQs, his dog “Sophie”, riding his John Deer lawnmower and driving his signature 1965 Red Ford pick-up truck that he drove for over 25 years. He had a big heart for others and he would do anything he could for anyone.
His daughters appreciate Aunt Beatrice (Louise), the late Liz McKinley, the entire staff of The Sheridan at Cooper City and hospice care of Trust Bridge for the loving care Dad has received during his illness with Alzheimer’s.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Liz McKinley.
