Doris A. Ford, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, in Plantation, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 2, 1946, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Doris was the youngest of six children born to Cecil and Frances Brown. She is survived by her brother Robert Brown and his wife, Shirley, and by her sister Mary Jane Starnes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Ford; her brothers Buster Brown and Charlie Brown; and her sister Elsie Grubb.
Doris was the devoted mother of three children: Kimberley Bayne; Robert M. Ford and his wife, Mistee; and Christopher Todd Ford and his wife, Corinne. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Zach Bayne, Devyn Bayne, Jake Bayne, Jack Ford, Callie Bonilla, and Tyler Ford, and the cherished great-grandmother of Gisele Dechard and Austin Bayne.
A graduate of Lynn View High School’s Class of 1964, Doris later continued her education at the College of the Sequoias, where she earned her LPN. Her compassion and dedication were evident in both her work as a nurse and in the way she cared for those around her throughout her life.
Doris was an avid sports fan who loved cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers. Her greatest joy, however, came from supporting her children and grandchildren she never missed a single game, performance, or school event. Known affectionately as “Mama Ford” to many, she opened her heart and home to everyone.
She was a generous spirit who gave freely to others, contributing to many charities, especially Toys for Tots. Helping people whether family, friend, or stranger was simply part of who she was.
Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and steadfast devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
