Doris Jakobs, age 91, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Dallas, Georgia. She was born to Lillian Sinus and John Elliott on November 1, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to Florida where she worked as a medical secretary for the University of Miami and the Miami Va until her retirement at the age of 80. She loved crocheting, doing crafts and quilting.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph O’Gara, long time companion Bob Vilaro, son-in-law Arthur Schultz, brother Jerry DeVoursney, sister-in-law Judy DeVoursney and grandson Chris Bogdan.
She is survived by daughters, Maureen Bogdan (Frank) of Dallas and Debbie O'Gara Schultz of Dania, FL; son, Joe O'Gara (Nanette) of Loxahatchee, FL; brother, Tom Devoursney of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Mike Bogdan (Twiggi), Brad Schultz, Scott Schultz, Tina O'Gara, Katie O'Gara, and Nick O'Gara (Leata); great-grandchildren, Cassie Bogdan, Devin Martinez, Ethan O'Gara, and Ryan O'Gara; as well as nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 7-9 at Fred Hunter’s, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida 33024.
