Eduardo “Yayo” Rodriguez was granted his angel wings on April 16, 2021, at the age of 91. His lasting imprint on everyone’s life that he touched will live forever in all of us. Eduardo was preceded by the death of his wife of 64 years Xenia. He is survived by his two sons Eric and Nelson and their wives Karen and Elizabeth and his granddaughters Alyssa, Alexa, and Amanda.
Born as the youngest of six siblings in October 1929 in Cuba, Eduardo was pressed into a leader of the family with the early passing of his father Jose at age 15. As a young man, Eduardo worked for Central Chaparra Sugar company which would become part of Cuba-America Sugar Co. in his hometown of Delicias, Cuba. A few miles away in the neighboring town of Puerto Padre, Cuba would be the place that he met the love of his life Xenia. The uncertain times of Cuba in the late 1950s brought Eduardo and Xenia to the United States for a chance at a better life and the ideal place to start a family. They spent early times in the New York/New Jersey area while working in a manufacturing plant in New Jersey. The family settled in Clark, New Jersey through the late ’70s where Eric and Nelson spent their early childhood years. The economic times of the late ’70s in the manufacturing industry saw the family relocate to Miami in 1977. South Florida remained his home for the remainder of their lives.
Eduardo had a passion to work with his hands. Anything that could be created, repaired, or just plainly made better was his imprint to those that he touched in life. He was best known for his creative mind and applied it to an overall solution to any given task. He will be remembered for his quick wit, humor, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Fred Hunter Funeral Home at 2 o'clock PM.
