

Edward R. Knapp, 89, of Davie, Florida passed away May 13, 2016, at his home. He was born July 12, 1926 in North Braddock, Pennsylvania. Eddie's mother returned to her native Czechoslovakia in 1929, taking him with her. His father followed the family a few years later. He came back to the United States at the age of 20 and found work in the steel mills three days after arriving. He was drafted into the US Army in 1950, serving for two years. Eddie began his employment with U.S. Steel in 1952, retiring after 43 years of service. He and his wife, Lois, lived in the Pittsburgh suburb of Forest Hills for 37 years.
Eddie and Lois moved to Davie in 1997. He was very devoted to his family and enjoyed his retirement. Most of all, he looked forward to spending time with his family, being outdoors, visiting Epcot, reading, going to the beach, and having conversations about history.
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 56 years, Lois; daughter, Patricia "Patti" Knapp; son, Edward Knapp, and his wife, Elise; grandchildren, Nicole Boross, Tyler Boross, Morgan Knapp, Emily Knapp and Lucas Knapp; and sister, Matilda Eperjesiova. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Matilda (Trefa) Knapp and two brothers.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. David Catholic Church in Davie, FL on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at noon. Interment to follow immediately.
