

Edward "Ted" Bennett Rowe III, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at his home, on February 3, 2012, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was born in Newport News, Virginia and moved to Waterford, Connecticut where he grew up and graduated from Waterford High School and Mitchell College.
He had a deep-seated love of the sea and spent most of his adult life as a yacht Captain, spending his winters in Fort Lauderdale and his summers in Newport, Rhode Island. Most recently he worked for Holland Ameri-ca Cruise Lines in Port Services.
Ted was the son of Edward Bennett Jr. & Lelia Anne Munce Rowe, and predeceased by his wife Marguerite Pettys Brown Rowe. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy R. Gallup of Hobart, New York, Martha R. Ahl-crona of Ledyard, Connecticut, his brother, Marshall G. Rowe of Concord, New Hampshire, and his stepson Daniel E. Brown of Blue Hill, Maine, as well as his granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Ted's life on Thursday between 1600 & 1800 at the Fort Lauderdale Yacht Club. Please RSVP to Randi 954-763-8201.
A second gathering of his family and friends is planned for Newport, Rhode Island on a later date in June.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions sent in his name to The Seamen's Church Institute, 18 Market Square, Newport, Rhode Island 02840 would be appreciated.
