

Edward "Ed" Martin Wharton III, 73, passed away in hospital after heart bypass surgery on Monday, June 19, 2017 in Davie, Florida. He was born November 24, 1943 to Edward and Frances Wharton of South Orange, New Jersey. Ed attended Seton Hall University in South Orange NJ, and LaSalle University in Pennsylvania.
Ed enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, motorcycles, reading, electronics, early morning breakfasts with friends, and then coming to work at Buy Fire Alarm Parts, Inc. which he founded with his son Todd in 2009. Those who knew him will miss his sense of humor and generosity of spirit.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Jo Ann; her daughter Carrie and son-in-law Patrick, and grandchildren Nigel, Reilly, Beverly and Hunter. He is also survived by adult sons Todd, Anthony and Edward.
He was preceded in death this year by his older sister Martha, and younger brother Christopher, and survived by siblings Justin, Monica, John, Charles, Margaret and Mary.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am shared memories will begin at 11:00 am and from 12:00pm until 2:00pm a luncheon/reception all at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home 2401 South University Dr., Davie, Florida. Instead of flowers, the family asks that you send a donation to the Kiwanis Club of Davie & West Hollywood 4611 South University Drive, Suite 467, Davie 33314 in honor of Ed Wharton. They will direct the donations to Davie Elementary where Ed volunteered much of his time as a mentor, a listener and lending support wherever he could.
