Elizabeth “Liz” Fitzgerald aka Princess, 75, passed away February 22nd, 2024 at her home in Florida. Born and raised in Massachusetts but spent her winters in Florida and moved there permanently in 2007.
She leaves behind her beloved partner of 35 years, Fredrick Baldassaro, two daughters Shannon Fitzgerald and Kerry Fitzgerald, five grandchildren Rosa DiScipio, Juliana DiScipio, Cristina DiScipio (Lucson), Gina DiScipio (Brandon) and Mary Gael Fitzgerald. Two Great grandchildren Mira Hickey and Lucia Flannigan. One brother Harold Simpson (Mary).
Liz worked 31 years for Verizon and got a bachelor’s degree at Lynn University, she retired a Frame CO Tech at Bowdon Square, Boston. After retiring at 55, she and Fred traveled throughout the USA and spent three months traveling around Europe. She loved to travel, meet new people and try different foods.
Liz was a long-time member of Orient Heights Yacht Club in East Boston before moving to Florida. She loved staying on her boat and she enjoyed the comradery with all of its members. Her slip was at the beginning of the marina and you’d have to answer a few questions to get past her. If she really liked you, she would always give you the business. She loved to sing karaoke even when she was barred from it. She always did what she wanted to do no matter what others thought.
In Florida, she loved to golf and would play three times a week, she was a wonderful painter and has many adoring the walls of her home, and she had an odd obsession with jars which she would make candles with or paint them. She was President of the Woman’s Club at the Fort Lauderdale Estates and she was a member of the Ft. Lauderdale small boat club where she would bartend.
Most of all, Liz loved her family and would do anything for us. She was caring, loving, funny, generous and wanted us to all be strong independent women just like her. Thanksgiving was always when we would be together to celebrate her birthday and being thankful for each other. She lit up any room she walked into and she will truly be missed by all of us that loved her.
Although there are no services, please have a mass and donate to your favorite charity in her honor.
