Elvira Charles was born on February 14, 1953, in Borgne (Oboy), Haiti. She was the third child to Elve and Melalie Charles. Her childhood was filled with many great memories and laughter. On January 8, 1981, Elvira migrated to the United States seeking new opportunities to better her family. She quickly made Miami, Florida her home and began working. She worked as a Textile Specialist for La Reina Fabrics for over 20 years. It’s during her tenure at La Reina Fabrics, Elvira’s passion for fashion grew intensely. Elvira was known to be a “Fashionista”. She would often have her clothes custom-made by a tailor and would opt-out from purchasing clothes from department stores. She was unique and her love for fashion portrayed in her clothing designs. Elvira was an inspiration to most. She raised 6 children as a single mother. She displayed a lot of strength and perseverance throughout her life. She was a devoted mother who displayed so much affection to her children and to anyone else’s children. She was a loving and nurturing human being who came to anyone’s aid at their time of need. Elvira loved all who was dear and near to her and she was loved by so many. Her nieces and nephews identified her as the “Cool Auntie” because she was very understanding, had an easy-going personality, and her willing to open her home to so many. Her faith in Christ was admirable and she made sure she instilled this in her children. Elvira was a devoted Catholic who believed in prayer and enjoyed being involved in church activities. Although we will greatly miss her, but the lasting memories will forever be embedded in our hearts.
Elvira, your unconditional love, infectious smile, and understanding will live on in us forever.
