It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Enid Richter of Fort Lauderdale announce her passing at the age of 65 after a year-long battle with cancer. She leaves behind her loving daughter Hannah of New York City, stepson David Richter of Denver, Colorado, and former husband Jason Richter MD, as well as countless devoted friends.
Enid grew up in Forest Hills, New York and was the only daughter of Shirley and Harry Thirer, who predeceased her. She graduated from Forest Hills High at the age of 16 and subsequently from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, with a teaching degree. She did her student teaching at Shaw Avenue School in Valley Stream, New York.
Enid relocated to Ft Lauderdale in the early 1980's and had a very successful career with Alamo Rent a Car. As a Regional Vice President, she traveled to many parts of the United States and opened and operated new satellite offices for Alamo. This led her to Denver, Colorado where she met and married Jason and joyfully balanced her career with mothering their daughter Hannah and Jason's son David.
Upon returning to Ft Lauderdale in 2009, Enid resumed her career in sales and marketing and successfully worked in the travel and car rental industries. She was a devoted mentor to many and a skilled team-builder who was loved and respected by all who worked with and for her.
Enid was an excellent athlete and could often be found on a tennis court or skiing down a mountain. She loved to travel and experience new adventures. Hannah was the light of her life and Enid always gave her support and encouragement, especially in the pursuit of her career in musical theater.
A celebration of Enid's life will be held on Saturday, December 16th; please contact the family for details. Enid valued her brain and believed that gamma knife radiation treatments preserved her functioning during the past year; thus, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to NYU Langone Health, Department of Neurosurgery, memo "Center for Advanced Radiosurgery," 530 First Ave., Skirball Institute, Suite 8R, New York, NY 10016.
