Ethel was born to Rose Benjamin Brett and Charles Brett on March 12, 1935. She was originally from Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island, New York She graduated from Adelphi University. She was employed as a teacher and a stockbroker for many years. In addition to achieving academic excellence, she is most proudly and best remembered as a kind, outgoing and friendly individual.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Charles along with several close family members and friends.
Ethel is survived by her daughter Rebecca Gallanter and spouse Steven, son John Mendelssohn, brother Stephen Brett and spouse Robin, grandchildren Carly and Benjamin Gallanter. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Michael, Rebekah, Troy and Scott Brett and Sara Brett along with many beloved cousins and friends.
Funeral and services are taking place privately in Florida.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or Sunrise Day Camp in Oceanside, New York, both of which benefit children with cancer and their families.
