Fred was born February 12, 1944 to Anton and Anna Partik in New York. He graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School in 1962 and joined the Marines soon after. He served 4 years and did 1 tour in Italy. He was honorably discharged in 1966. After coming back to the states he worked with Sheffield Labs in Norwich, NY until he moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1969. He was hired on with Southern Bell as a lineman in 1970. He dedicated 30 years to Southern Bell, quickly climbing the ladder, starting as a lineman and retiring as manager of the Southeast branches.
After he retired in 2000 he spent his time perfecting his boating and fishing skills, playing racquetball and working on projects around the house. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and helped to teach them things from tying shoes to politics. He was a mentor to his family and others around him. Everyone knew they could go to him with any problem and he would always be there.
He had a kind and caring soul and he tried to brighten people’s day if only for a moment. With his gentle eyes, caring heart, and unconditional love, not a day will go by that we will not miss him.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents: Anton and Anna Partik, his sister: Anna Marie Crawford and his son: Matthew Partik. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie, as well as his daughters, Franje and Stephanie. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Nicholas, Angelina and Elizabeth Partik and one great grandchild Nathanial; his brother Leo Partik of McLean VA, and his brother-in-law Jim Crawford of Sherburne and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Saint David’s Catholic Church in Davie, FL Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:00am. Reception to follow at American Legion in Cooper City.
