Galo Ruiz Miranda, 87, of Weston, FL, passed away on December 19, 2016 at Sunrise Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sunrise, FL. He was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on October 20, 1929 to Felipe and Guillermina (Miranda) Ruiz. He moved to New York in the early 1950's with his wife, Rosa and raised 4 children in Brooklyn, NY.
Galo loved baseball and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees. It was his passion and the Yankees was his team, they could do no wrong. Many a summer he would be at Yankee Stadium rooting for his team. But his one true love was for the Lord and his faith, he was a devout catholic. He retired in the early '80's and moved back to Aguada until last year when he moved to Florida to be near his children.
He is survived by his children, Maria Rucci of Tamarac, James Ruiz of Gainesville and Migdalia "Mickey" (Julio) Aviles of Weston; granddaughters, Angelica (Juan) Rozon of Tampa, Janessa (Carlos Rodarte) Gonzalez of Tamarac and Elisa Velasquez of Weston; great grandchildren, Janelle and Jenna Rodarte and Zoe and Ben Rozon; 3 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous nephews and nieces including his favorite niece Tery Ruiz and many cousins. He is predeceased by his wife Rosa Bonilla Rios and son Jose "Joey" Ruiz.
Loved by many, he will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 10:30 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 19099 W. Oakland Park Blvd, Sunrise, FL 33351.
