Henry Read III

Henry (Bud) M. Read III was born on October 27, 1929 in Chatham, NJ to Henry M. Read II and Ruth B. Read, and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. during his childhood. He attended Ft. Lauderdale High school, and Ruston Academy in Havana, Cuba, and received his certification as a master electrician from the Miami Institute of Technology.  He served in the Naval reserve. He married the girl around the corner from his home on SW. 13th Court, Deloris May Eastham, who was the love of his life until her death, October 20, 2016, the day before the 67th anniversary. Shortly before she took her final breaths, he promised "I’ll meet you at the pearly gates" and he fulfilled that promise on March 10, 2021.

 Mr. Read spent much of his life, following his marriage, dedicated to working in Faith Farm Ministries, which was founded in 1951, by Deloris's father, Reverend Garland (Pappy) Eastham. He served Faith Farm Ministries in many capacities, including superintendent for approximately 10 years, in building, planning and construction, teaching Bible studies, and serving on the board of directors until 2013.

He enjoyed playing his bass fiddle alongside Deloris, on the piano in the church there, and singing bass in their family quartet, with his wife and two daughters.

 Mr. Read was an avid model train enthusiast an antique collector, and ran his own antiques store, "Buds” Old Time Shoppe" for many years in Fort Lauderdale.

He is survived by his daughters, Laura Hill (Larry) and Katherine Jackson, Grandchildren, David Hill, Robert Byland (Lori), Richard Miller (Brooke), April Dickinson and Jeremy Hill, and 9 great grandchildren, Michael Patterson, Joshua Hill, Faith Hill, Rebecca Hill, Katherine Dickinson, Haley Byland, Jack Miller, William Dickinson and Nicholas Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth Read, his sister, Virginia Campbell, and his wife, Deloris May Read.

Visitation and goodbyes are being facilitated by Fred Hunters on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at their 718 South Federal Highway location in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
