

Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Fred Hunters, Hollywood, FL; 12 to 1:00 PM visitation; 1:00 PM Military ceremony and service.
Military interment on September 9, 10:30 AM at South Florida National Cemetery Lake Worth, FL.
Jim was born on July 4, 1943 in Lecompte, LA, but spent most of his early years in Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina. He graduated from Durham High School in1962, and enlisted in the Marine Corp. Starting out in Camp Pendleton, he toured Okinawa, Japan and Vietnam. He married his childhood sweetheart, Diane on May 12, 1965, and they went straight to Camp Lejeune from their honeymoon to live in military housing. Jim was discharged from the Marines in October 1966 with the rank of E5. From there he joined the Police Department in Atlanta, GA.From Atlanta, GA, they moved to South Florida where he worked 30 years for the Miami Dade County Transit Authority, first as a bus driver and then as a dispatcher.Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cynthia Diane Fields, his son James “Jimmy” Samuel Fields III and daughter in law, Amanda Fields; 5 grandchildren; his brother Bobby Murphy and his sister Linda Slade; cousin Betsy Sorrell,
He is preceded in death by his parents, James S. Fields, Sr., George D. Murphy and Mary Murphy, his brother Larry Murphy, and his daughter, Tiffany Fields.
