September 2, 1941 – January 17, 2025
With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Janki Dyal, known lovingly as Leila, who passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at the age of 83, in Weston, Florida. Born on September 2, 1941, in Hague, Guyana, to Gurdayal and Somaria, Janki, one of 7 children, was a beacon of love, strength, and devotion throughout her life.
Leila’s journey was defined by her unwavering commitment to her family, faith, and community. In May 1960, she married, Harry Dyal (Gobin), and raised four children, pouring her heart into raising them with the values of kindness, respect, and integrity.
For over 25 years, Leila touched the lives of many as a teacher at Christ the King Catholic Church in Miami, where she not only educated but inspired countless students. Her devotion to both the Hindu Society of America and Christ the King Catholic Church further exemplified her deep commitment to faith and service, touching the lives of those around her.
Leila’s warmth, generosity, and compassion were felt by everyone she encountered. She had a natural ability to make others feel valued, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply her presence. Her legacy is not only in the lives she touched directly but, in the love, and care she so freely gave to others.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry Dyal, her sister Sumintra Jogai, and her brother Ganga Persaud.
She is survived by her four children, each of whom carry forward her values and love: Ramesh, Suresh, Geeta, Sita. Her family also includes her loving daughters-in-law: Sandra and Rose, and wonderful sons-in-law: Surren and Simon.
Leila’s light continues to shine through her eight grandchildren: Ronnie, Andrew, Tej, Junior, Naren, Sabrina, Sunil, and Anand and her three great-grandchildren: Sajal, Austin, Amara
Her memory will live on in each of them, as they carry forward her spirit of love, compassion, and dedication.
