

Jean Lamand of Miami, passed away on December 23, 2014, at 5:25 a.m. He was 69 years old. He was born on February 26, 1945 in Miragoane, Haiti, son of the late Racine and Isemene Lamand. Jean grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he went to school and graduated from high school.
He left Haiti in 1969 and went to Mexico City, where he spent two years studying electrical engineering. Then he moved to New York to be with his brothers and sisters. Some years later, he met Astrid Manoly. They got married in June 1977. In 1988, Jean, Astrid, and their daughter Regine moved to Miami, Fl where a second child Daniel was born in 1989.
Jean worked as a supervisor at the Port of Miami for 10 years until his retirement in 2007. He then began traveling along with his wife to many countries, and spent time with family and friends in Florida and New York.
He will be missed as a good husband, father, brother, and friend. He will also be remembered for his kindness, his friendliness, and compassionate heart.
Survivors include: His wife of 37 years Astrid (born Manoly), his daughter Regine, and his son Daniel; his brother George and family, his sisters Marguerite Austin (Lamand) and family, Chimene Lamand; Miss Jeane Lefevre; his nephews: Richard Orbe-Austin, Marlon Lamand, Kenel Jr, Celso, Dimitri Jackson; his nieces Diline Henry, Marline Desauguste, Sabine Nelzy, Sheila Lamand, Galia Leon, Sherly Jackson; his cousins George, Jean and Guillaume Hypollite; Frantz Jr and Ricardi Lamand; Claude Roche, Bertani Lafontant, Guerda Archer; His brother-in-laws: Guy Austin; Filiberto, Roberto, Fernando, Hermann Manoly and their families.
