Just heard the sad news. I have a lot of fond memories hanging when we went to St Bernadettes up until 8th grade. Last time I saw Jeff was at our 20th High School reunion, later that night we both went to Lesters dinner for a patty melt and talked about the fun at Lake Okeechobee, motorcycling in the orange groves near his home, boating etc. One funny story was when Jimmy tried to get across a small wood canal bridge on 130th with the Honda 70 trail bike. As Jim tried he fell back and the both the bike and Jimmy ended up in the water. Jeff was laughing his ass off and Jim wanted to kick his butt. RIP Jeff

I was so shock to hear that your were gone, i'm overwhelmed with sadness you were a great, loving, caring, kind person. I loved you with all my heart as you knew.R.I. P. my friend i will love you always.

1983 - A trip to the Keys: Jimmy and others were in the blue SeaCraft. Jeff, Patty, Tim and Jean in a bass boat (Yes, Jeff assured me, it was OK to be in the ocean in a bass boat). A few small dolphin were caught, then a larger one was hooked. The bass boat was not going to be out-fished by the blue boat, so Jeff and Tim swung the dolphin onto the boat. Jeff was not about to let that fish get away, so he laid down on top of it until it stopped flopping. The unofficial tournament was won by the bass boat and Jeff's quick thinking and determination. Life was always an fun adventure with Jeff!

Jeff will always be in our prayers when we look out to the sea, glimpse a sunrise through the clouds, a full moon rising from the ocean or a glorious sunset over the glades.SlÃ¡n abhaile brother "Griff",

I have known Jeff since he was about 8 years old. I will always remember his great smile and his willingness to help out anyone. When I was in high school, and visiting the Griffin Compound I was driving "the bomb" a beat up white old Chysler. One day it wouldn't start and Jeff came over and without hesitation he figured out what was wrong. He couldn't have been more than 12! He did it with a smile and was just happy to help. I know he is in heaven now with Ma and Pa Griffin who have been waiting for him. I remember this poem from those years, that I think Ma Griffin made up to keep everyone's name straight!Richard, Dan,Pam, NanTim, Jim, Jeff, Jan....Now our Jeff has left his loving siblings to be with his parents and son in heaven.God Bless Jeff and God Bless you all!

With a lifetime of memories, it is so hard to have a favorite - they are all treasured and precious. Jeff's laugh is what I remember most and his spirit that was always one to bring life and laughter to any situation. The years at Lake Okeechobee, the house parties, the friendship....what a gift Jeff was, still is, and will always be to the lives of those who were blessed enough to have known him. I know Dad has gotten the guitar out and is playing a tune in celebration of his arrival home! I look forward to joining that house party!!! I love you Jeff!!!!!!

Jeff and I were the 'babies' of the eight children..he the youngest boy and I the youngest girl. We spent hours together when we were young and I have many fond memories of Jeff... he was very protective of me. I remember one day playing at the swing set on the Davie playground, where they used to play optimist football. I could not have been older than 5 or 6 so he was about 7 or 8, and I was being harassed by some playground bullies who were older that wanted my swing. Jeff chased them away in my defense...even though they were older. I think he may have even gotten punched in the eye! He did that a lot for me. When we were teenagers, he continued to protect me. If I needed help with anything, I could always ask Jeff and he would be there for me. I will miss his big smile, his generous heart and big bear hugs.

The last time I saw brother Jeff we took a little walk down memory lane together. As kids we lived out on a farm and didn't have neighbors to play with so the eight of us usually broke into teams of four and played sports according to the season. We played football in the Fall, basketball in the Winter and baseball in the Spring. We spent most Summers in the lake swimming or fishing for brim. Jeff was almost always on my team which was usually headed up by the team captain, brother Danny. The last time I saw Jeff he reminded me how I used to call him "eggshell". He could squeeze through a space as thin as an egg shell and sprint to the goal line before anybody knew he was gone. Winning was a big deal in my family so Jeff, being the youngest, remembered his odd nick name and athletic accomplishments with great pride and affection. We laughed about all the other names Jeff called himself as a child...I loved Jeffery Wayne George Washington Hercules Griffin and will treasure all the childhood memories we shared. May he rest in peace until the day I can once again play on his team in Heaven.

Jeff was a friend of mine for along time have not seen him for many years , the lord has his plans for which we don't know , we will all be together one day , and faith is a beautiful young girl she was a blessing to him I'am sure

Jeff was my first true love n will always be. We have 3 beautiful children and now he is at peace with his son garrett once again. Raising hell with all their friends that have been waiting for Jeffs arrival at that pearly white gate. You both will always have a place in my heart. You will be dearly missed. Baby brother sure left 3 beautiful children behind. His love will continue to shine through their lives. One of my fondest memories was him going down a huge water slide on the day of Faith's first communion party. My second was the time he and his sons showed up late for a family party. Their excuse was accepted as they held up 3 to 5 bass all over 5 pounds. The grins in this picture are the same grins they all 3 had (Garrett's was huge) and no one could do anything but be amazed. Brother was a true "mans -man" and he could fix, build, re-route just about anything if it needed to be done. He lived life hard and fast all the way to the end.

I knew Jeff for about 23 yrs. One day almost 12 years ago I ran into him again and my Ford Lightning wasn't shifting into gear. He said "bring to my house and I will fix it" so I did. Jeff and Bubba changed the transmission fluid and I noticed they left the magnate out ( thats what collects the metal fragments) any way, I called them out on it and Jeff looked at me and said " I am going to marry this girl! " - he was such the mechanic!!! A few months later we were married and he gave me the most smart, beautiful little girl ever and we named her Faith. I caught my first Dolphin in the Keys with him, If he wasnt holding onto to me I would have went overboard. LOL - Although he and I did not stay together, there has always been a place in my heart just for him. I love and miss you till death did we part ~~

I have know Jeff since the day I was born. He was the big brother my sister Kelly and I never had. I am so grateful for the wonderful memories of Lake Okeechobee and all the family parties. He was always there to look after me, Kelly, and Janet when we were runningaround the pastures trying to find trouble. I can only smile when I remember you Jeff. Be at peace. My younger brother Jeff would be there whenever I needed him. I have many fond memories with Jeff but one stands out that truely shows his Courage.  When we were around 12 or 13 years old, we had a couple friends over to camp out in our Dad's homemade Greyhound camper. When the AC was plugged in, for some reason it would made the camper door handle shock you if you grabbed onto it. Well, one person forgot and grabbed it on the way out the camper door. He was getting shocked so bad he couldn't let go. My friend and I were running all over the bus in a panic trying to find another way out of the Bus. Jeff woke up, saw the kid getting shocked and begging for help. Jeff touched him and said, man, you are getting shocked! Then without hesitation, he leaned back and rammed into the kid as hard as he could and broke him free as they both tumbled out of the Bus and onto the grass outside. He saved the Boy's Life! My little brother was a Hero that day, a day I'll never forget.
